29 February 2008. A very special day. The once in 4 years leap year.

I was reading the papers this morning, then there was this report that said many people actually didn't think much about this special day. To many, today is just like any other normal fridays. Nothing special, nothing worth celebrating.

Then there was this other report that featured stories about 2 leap year babies. I dunno if I should be envious or feel sorry for them.

For them, they celebrate their birthdays once in 4 years, that is to say, they only grow older by a year for every 4 years that we've grown. Isn't it a good thing to remain young? Haven't people been talking about not wanting to be a grown-up?

On another note, it's actually quite a sad thing being born on Feb the 29th. Having to wait for 4 years to receive birthday cakes and birthday presents, 4 years of neck-long wait in exchange for only 24hours of special moments that belong to you. Seeing friends happily celebrating their special days every year while you can only wait for your turn to come few years later.

When i saw the news that a baby was born on this day, my first response was actually, "So ke lian." So I guess I feel more sorry for the leap year babies bah.

Wonder what will become of us when the next leap year come. Will we be slogging away in offices or will we be busy conducting research, trials and experiments in labs? Will we all start to have the professional look? Will we, instead of going k, be going pubs and bars etc for happy hours? Will everyone be so busy with their work that we don't have much time to meet up?

Eager to know what will become of me in the future, but not looking forward to it. I don't like growing up.
